I’ve been meaning to take a brief inventory of the last year, my favourite memories and subsequently my favourite photographs. In chronological order, here is a visual recap of what was an incredible year including an itinerary something like this: Canada, Italy, France, Italy, France, England, France, Canada, France. Oh la la! C’est trop!

January 2012: My local Burnaby library, where I spent very many hours working to launch my business, preparing for my trip to Europe and enjoying the incredible north shore views. This one taken with my beloved Brownie Hawkeye.

April 2012: Joined Travel Bloggers Unite for a few amazing days in Assisi, doing what bloggers do, exploring, tweeting, eating, writing, learning.

May 2012: The seaside in Bari where I escaped from my work and took many long walks breathing in the Adriatic air.

May 2012: Back to my home in Bari, where a friendly photographer friend took me to shoot this church near Conversano, Puglia.

May 2012: Joined a host of bloggers in Bologna, Italy for Blogville, finding out everything there is to know, do, see and taste in the fascinating region of Emilia Romagna.

May 2012: A Muslim woman enters an Orthodox church in Bologna for morning prayers. What I learned: early Sunday mornings make for amazing photographs.

June 2012: From Bologna to Paris for business and a visit to the Grand Palais where I discovered the happiest and most colourful art installation I have ever experienced. What joy courtesy of artist Daniel Van Buren.

June 2012: Paris to Rouen, where I discovered the place I would spend the rest of the year (or more!).

June 2012: Sometime in the late spring I returned to the south of Italy and in early July went back up the coast to Rimini for another week of Blogville and beaches.

August 2012: I spent a weekend in London where I was nominated for a Study Travel Magazine award: Star New Agency – a professional highlight!

October 2012: Back to Canada for Thanksgiving to spend time with family and friends and reorganize myself, prepare for life in France.

December 2012: Several weekends spent in Paris, wandering, photographing and discovering the fabulous French street art. This is Le Mur des “Je t’aime” in Montmartre.

My favourite view of Paris, taken shortly after Christmas and my final photo of 2012. Love the depth and detail of this city.
Well, it didn’t seem like a lot of traveling at the time, certainly less than what I’m used to, but upon reflection I did manage to fit in a few countries and adventures. What does 2013 hold? I’m starting the year off in France, planning on Spain and maybe Germany. And possibly Italy. And potentially … ???
